Where your workbook lives.

Browser workspace

The spreadsheet engine runs in your browser. Opening a file or editing a template does not upload its contents. Unsaved work lives in the current tab and can be lost when it closes. Export a backup or choose Save to cloud.

Cloud saving and sharing

Saving uploads the workbook contents and title to Emberkit’s database. Previous versions, comments and sharing permissions are stored with the workbook. Only the owner and authorized members can request it. Workbook pages and account APIs are excluded from indexing; public sitemaps contain help and product pages only.

Presence

When a cloud workbook is open in a visible tab, Emberkit records a short-lived heartbeat, your account identifier and whether you have unsaved edits. Other members can see your display name and activity. Presence records expire and are cleaned up; they are not an attendance or productivity report.

Accounts and optional profile details

One Emberkit account works across the platform. Provider sign-up, when enabled, requests basic name and email information. Apple may supply a private relay address. Age range, gender and country are optional profile details entered by you, not inferred from your documents. You can leave them blank or remove them in Account. They are not shown to workbook collaborators.

Billing

Stripe handles payment details. Emberkit stores the subscription identifiers and status needed to enforce plans. The no-card Sheets trial does not automatically charge you.

Retention and deletion

Owners can delete workbook history or an entire workbook from the workspace. Deleting a workbook also removes its comments, versions, sharing and presence records from the active database. Provider backups may retain data according to the database provider’s retention settings; we do not claim immediate erasure from backups. Removing access does not erase a recipient’s previously downloaded copy.

Contact support for account deletion or data questions. The spreadsheet engine and formula helper do not send workbook cells to a third-party AI service.
